The short version.
We use a small number of essential cookies for things like checkout state. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookie, and we ask before it runs. Until you say yes, no analytics cookie is set. We don't run advertising trackers and nothing here follows you between sites.

What's a cookie?
A small text file your browser stores so a site can remember things between page loads. There are essential ones (login, cart, checkout), measurement ones (which pages get read), and tracking ones (advertising, behavioural targeting). We use the first kind, and the second kind only if you allow it. We never use the third.
What we use.
Essential cookies: set by our hosting layer for performance. Required for the site to function. Checkout happens on etsy.com, so any cart or fraud-prevention cookies are set by Etsy under Etsy's cookie policy, not by this site.
Analytics: we use Google Analytics, which does set cookies. It tells us which pages people read and which links they follow, so we know what is worth writing more of. It only runs if you allow it. On your first visit you get a small box at the bottom of the screen with two buttons, and nothing analytics-related is stored until you choose. If you decline, no analytics cookie is set at all and you can carry on reading exactly as before. You can also opt out across every site that uses it with Google's browser add-on.
Your choice is stored on your own device, in your browser's local storage, under mf-consent. It never reaches us as a name or an account, and clearing your browser data resets it, which means we will ask again.
What we don't use: Facebook Pixel, behavioural advertising trackers, third-party retargeting, or any cookie that follows you between sites.
Embedded content.
If we embed YouTube or Vimeo videos, those services may set their own cookies. Same for any externally embedded content. You can block third-party cookies in your browser settings without affecting our site.
How to clear cookies.
Most browsers let you view, delete, or block cookies under Settings → Privacy. Doing so won't affect your purchases or your email subscription. Those live on our backend, not in cookies.
